want to become a tutor?

Do you enjoy working with student's in a one-on-one teaching environment, outside of a classroom setting? Are you tired of searching for students, and would prefer having us find plenty of students for you to tutor instead? Are you willing to drive very short distances to tutor in students' homes? Do you prefer tutoring students in their own coursework, using their own subject material, rather than infiltrating students with some major tutoring agency's non-specific instructional materials? Do you want to make your own hours, and earn one of the highest hourly rates for tutors in Southern California? Then Next Level Tutors might be the perfect part-time job for you!

JOB DESCRIPTION

Next Level Tutors specializes in one-on-one tutoring for students in grades K-12, or at the college level. Next Level Tutors is constantly in need of experienced, intelligent, and personable tutors who demonstrate an enthusiasm for the subjects they teach. Although tutors are needed for ALL areas of Orange and Los Angeles Counties, our policy is that tutors will never need to drive more than 5-10 miles to get to their tutoring destination. Currently we are looking for tutors in all subject areas, including mathematics, science, reading, writing, history, social science, and the foreign languages. Tutors are encouraged to offer their services in more than one subject area. For a complete and more specific list of the subjects that we offer, click here. Qualified tutors shall provide individualized, one-on-one homework support, test preparation, and general help in the student's course(s) of concern. Because Next Level Tutors specializes in helping students succeed in their specific coursework, no additional instructional materials are required upon the tutor's arrival to the student's home. Instructors simply need to show up on time with their "Tutors Log" to mentor, educate, and develop the student's abilities in his or her particular course(s) of concern.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Because the tutoring sessions are held in the student's home or preferred location, all tutors must have their own vehicle with valid driver's license and insurance. Other qualifications include:

- Tutors must be passionate about teaching, possess strong communication skills, and have an ability to motivate struggling students.

- Experience in teaching and/or tutoring is a must, and mastery in at least one subject area is necessary.

- Tutors must be highly committed to working with student's from all backgrounds and skill levels.

- Tutorial sessions most often take place Monday through Friday between 4:00pm and 9:00pm for K-12 students, while for college students scheduling times may be more flexible. Additionally, tutoring sessions may be scheduled on weekends. Please realize that tutors need not be available for ALL of these time periods; but the more flexible you are, the more tutoring sessions you will be able to provide to our students.

COMPENSATION

Tutoring sessions are one-hour in length, starting from when the books open, and finishing when the books close. Travel time is not included, nor are gasoline expenses, but they are instead figured in to our elevated hourly tutoring salaries. Please remember that you will rarely have to travel more than 5-10 miles en route to your tutoring location. Tutors are paid on an hourly basis, and salary depends on one's educational level and teaching experience. Checks are mailed out on the 1st and 15th of each month.
